During public engagement for the project, City staff received comments regarding excessive traffic volume and speed along East Danube Road. City staff evaluated existing traffic conditions as part of the project’s feasibility study and held an additional public meeting with adjacent properties on December 18th, 2024. While staff determined that thresholds for City construction of traffic calming elements are not met, traffic calming improvements could be implemented if desired and funded by benefitting property owners.

On December 23rd, 2024, the City received a petition from benefitting properties to formally request the evaluation of traffic calming improvements along East Danube Road. Over the coming weeks, City staff will gather additional traffic data within the project area to evaluate the feasibility of various potential traffic calming implementations. The findings of the traffic calming study will be brought to the City Council in March and be made available on the City’s project webpage once completed.
