    Safe Kids Anoka County offers FREE car seat check-ups to Anoka County residents. All clinic events are from 4-7 p.m. and appointments are first come, first serve. Appointments must be made in advance of the clinic. Call 763-502-1981 to schedule your appointment.

  2. Timberwolves Court Unveiling Party

    September 19, 2019, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Madsen Park

    Now that we've won our new basketball court - courtesy of the Minnesota Timberwolves and U.S. Bank - it is time to break it in! Mark your calendars for the unveiling party. The event will include special remarks from Timberwolves and City of Fridley officials, snacks, drinks, music, games, giveaways, and a free 30-minute Timberwolves basketball skills session for kids (suggested ages 8-14). Parking for the event: Free parking available at Grace Evangelical Free Church – 755 73rd Ave NE, Fridley, MN 55432 Grace Evangelical Free Church has generously volunteered the use of their parking lot for those attending this event. Attendees can park anywhere in their parking lot and walk over to Madsen Park. They are also allowing attendees to use their restroom facilities when needed during the event. You should enter through door C (west side of the building) to access their facilities.

  3. Bird Banding

    September 22, 2019, 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Springbrook Nature Center

    Help capture and release wild birds for this banding research program. Hold in your hand cardinals, chickadees, robins, and more as they are released. The birds are measured, weighed, examined for fat and other health indicators, aged and sexed (if possible), fitted with a light-weight band with a unique number on it and then released. Springbrook's bird banding project is one of the longest and continual bird banding projects in Minnesota.

  5. Mississippi Street Open House

    September 24, 2019, 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM @ Fridley Civic Campus

    The City of Fridley and Anoka County are conducting a comprehensive evaluation of roadway alternatives for CSAH 6 (Mississippi Street). The main goals of this study are to identify necessary roadway improvements that are compatible with local and regional needs, and to provide safe, efficient, and reliable mobility for all users of the roadway. An open house will be held to provide additional information on the potential improvements and project schedule. Participants will learn what amphibians and reptiles do during the winter including how and where they hibernate.     Bring the entire family out to experience the WILD at Springbrook Nature Center. Explore the trails, learn new skills, meet live animals and more. There are new themes each month! Please dress to enjoy the weather. Activities will be geared towards elementary school-aged children, but all are welcome. September 28 - Pollinators! Come delve into the world of pollinators. October 26 - Shower of Leaves! Head out on a hike, learn about why leaves change and create some fantastic leaf rubbings.
