Due to poor ice conditions, the warming house at Commons Park will be closed this weekend. We hope to open again next Friday (January 3) pending favorable weather conditions.
Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES), operator of the metro-area wastewater collection and treatment system, plans to build a new lift station in Fridley to replace the existing and aging lift station in Brooklyn Park (L32). The new lift station will be built on the Camp Lockslea sight following the sale of the property to MCES by the Girl Scouts River Valleys in 2017.
The existing lift station in Brooklyn Park is 50 years old and has reached the end of its useful life. It lacks adequate storage, leading to sewer backups and odors. This site will be used as an odor control facility and to access pipes that cross the river. The new facility will preserve wastewater system assets, improve system reliability, and accommodate community growth. For more information, including links to previously held public meetings, please visit the MCES website.
