Annual Street Maintenance Project
- Project typePublic Works
- Project scheduleOngoing
The City of Fridley’s 2024 Annual Street Maintenance Project will include 2 miles of crack sealing and 0.7 mile of seal coating. The project is anticipated to start in the summer. Once the construction schedule is confirmed with a contractor, property owners adjacent to the project areas will be notified through a mailing and the schedule will be posted on the website. A map of the streets to be crack sealed and seal coated is provided below.
Crack Seal
Crack sealing the roadway is a preventative maintenance measure that involves cleaning out cracks and sealing them with an asphalt emulsion. Sealing the cracks prohibits moisture from infiltrating the roadway and causing damage.
69th Avenue east of Central Avenue, Anoka St, West Moore Lake south of 61st Avenue, 71st Avenue by City Hall, and Northern Stacks Drive will be crack sealed.
Seal Coat
Seal coating is a common preventative maintenance activity that involves spraying liquid emulsions on the surface of the existing pavement followed by a cover of aggregate.
If you reside or do business on one of the streets to be seal coated, please keep vehicles off the street during the weekdays (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.) until seal coat operations are complete.
During the work, driveways will be inaccessible for a period of about thirty minutes or less. Signs will be posted to keep traffic off specific streets until the contractor completes the work. Please obey signage and flaggers for your safety, workers' safety, and to prevent damage to your vehicle. This will allow the contractor to complete the work more quickly and cause you less inconvenience due to this maintenance work.
Please avoid sudden stops or starts on the freshly seal coated streets. This will keep the work in good condition and reduce the need for future street maintenance. Please note the pavement markings will be repainted after the seal coating is complete.
Highway 65 Service road, Dellwood Drive, and Pierce Street north of East Moore Lake Drive will be seal coated.
