Volunteer

Gain experience, make friends and help further our mission to connect people to nature by volunteering at Springbrook!

Whether you want to help out on a regular basis or with our fun events, we welcome your helping hands. Our fantastic community events like Pumpkin Night in the Park and Summer Concert Series would not be possible without our wonderful volunteers.

Skilled in art, crafts, construction or maintenance? We would love your help! Good with kids? We need you, too!

Ways to Volunteer

Special Events

Help our large events succeed! Join us for Pumpkin Night in the Park (October), and other large-scale events. Take tickets, greet visitors, light candles--your help is always needed!

Invasive Species Control

Pesky plants sometimes grow outside at the Nature Center and need to be removed. Common species removed are buckthorn and garlic mustard. We provide gloves and a basic lesson in what to pull. Great for one-time group events.

Grounds Maintenance

Our trails and outdoor areas need upkeep. We need help with tasks like wood chipping trails, removing brush, and litter pick-up throughout the year.

Trail Steward

Do your part to keep Springbrook Nature Center’s trials in good condition! Duties include walking trails to identify repair needs or hazards, picking up litter or trash, and aiding visitors by answering basic questions about SNC.

Education Program Support

Education Program Support volunteers help naturalist staff with child/student engagement during educational programs. As a volunteer of this type, you can expect to interact with students/children, adults, and other staff.

Group Opportunities

One-time opportunities available for groups of 10 or more. Projects include: Habitat restoration, planting native species, planting gardens, removal of invasive species, mulching, brush hauling, litter removal, and other special projects in natural areas.

Junior Leader

We need high school helpers to join our summer camp crew. Duties include assisting summer camp leaders with camp set up and classroom management. Additional training for animal handling is optional.

Reception Desk Hosts

Be the first, friendly face for our SNC visitors. Answer phones and questions, and assist with special projects. Additional training for computer-based projects and room set up and tear down is optional.

Animal Care

Help us take care of our animals and educate others about the species they represent! Basic duties include exhibit cleaning, animal enrichment, and maintaining the outdoor feeders. Additional, optional training includes animal handling and feeding.
