The City of Fridley and Springbrook Nature Center have a variety of facilities available to rent for gatherings and celebrations. We also offer seasonal equipment rentals to enhance your enjoyment of outdoor recreational activities.

Springbrook Nature Center Rentals

The Springbrook Nature Center building in nestled amongst the natural beauty of forests, prairies and wetlands, providing the perfect backdrop for your event.

The location offers stunning views, trail access and an attached patio for your guests to observe all the sights and sounds of this unique setting.

Springbrook Nature Center – Indoor Room

Indoor Room Rentals

Each classroom is 20' x 40' and can seat up to 40 people depending on layout. Classrooms can be combined to accommodate larger groups.

  • Woodland: Features carpeted flooring, projector with large projection screen and an attached catering kitchen.
  • Wetland Room: Features carpeted flooring, two whiteboards and a sink.
  • Prairie Room: Identical to the Wetland Room with carpet, whiteboards and sink.
  • Oak Savannah: Features linoleum flooring, and projector and large projection screen.

Classroom and Meeting Room Rentals

Rooms are available from Monday - Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Classroom rental rates:

  • Fridley Residents: $40 per room per hour (plus tax)
  • Non-Profit groups: $40 per room per hour (plus tax)
    (proof of status must be provided)
  • Non-Fridley Residents: $65 per room per hour (plus tax)

A refundable damage deposit of $50 per classroom is due at the time of booking.

*State sales tax of 8.125% will be charged on all rentals.

Springbrook Nature Center – Picnic Shelter

Springbrook Nature Center Pavilion Activity Center Rental

The Pavilion Activity Center (PAC) is available for rent between May-October. There are two options for renting out Springbrook's new Pavilion Activity Center. Each option is available for up to four hours between the times of 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily.

Outdoor Portion

The outdoor portion includes seating for up to 50 people and only includes the area under overhang. A damage deposit of $100 is needed to complete the rental.

  • Fridley Resident: $80 + tax
  • Non-Fridley Resident: $120 + tax
  • Non Profit Organization (proof required): $80 + tax
Entire Pavilion Activity Center

If you rent the entire PAC, there is seating for up to 50 people outside and 48 people in the inside classroom, depending on layout. A damage deposit of $100 is needed to complete the rental.

  • Fridley Resident: $170 + tax
  • Non-Fridley Resident: $250 + tax
  • Non-Profit Organization (proof required): $170 + tax
Rental Rules
  • No alcohol use, tobacco use, or smoking allowed.
  • Dogs or pets are not allowed in the park.
  • Parking is available in parking lots only.

Springbrook Nature Center – Amphitheater

Outdoor Amphitheater

Springbrook Nature Center’s Amphitheater, made possible by the Fridley Lions, has a seating capacity of approximately 150 on concrete seat walls.

Grassy areas allow for an additional estimated 100 guests standing or sitting on additional chairs. Two 20 amp circuits power four electrical outlets at the amphitheater.

Rental Fees

There is a stand-alone fee for daily rental and the space is available from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. A damage deposit of $100 is needed to complete the rental.

  • Non-Fridley Resident $300 + tax
  • Fridley Resident $225 + tax
  • Non-Profit Rate: $225 (proof of status required)
  • A portable P.A. system may be made available from the nature center for an additional daily $50 rental fee, subject to availability.

Springbrook nature Center – Snowshoes and Kicksleds Rental

Snowshoes and kicksleds are available for rent at Springbrook Nature Center inside the Interpretive Center. There is limited equipment, so rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Large groups need to make arrangements in advance by contacting us at 763-572-3588.

Note: Snowshoe and kicksled rentals are CLOSED for the season.

Snowshoe Rental

  • Rental fee is $5 per pair of snowshoes.
  • There are a limited number of snowshoes available each day
  • Three inches of base snow are required for snowshoe rental
  • Snowshoe rental time is from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. All snowshoes must be returned to the building by 4 p.m.
  • Snowshoes may only be used onsite.
  • You may snowshoe on known trails or off trail thru wooded areas.
  • For your safety, do not snowshoe on any frozen ponds, streams or wetlands.
  • Please do not walk on pavement or cleared sidewalks with your snowshoes on.

Kicksled Rental

  • Rental fee is $10 per kicksled
  • There are a limited number of kicksleds available each day
  • Three inches of base snow are required for kicksled rental
  • Kicksled rental time is from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. All kicksleds must be returned to the building by 4 p.m.
  • Kicksleds may only be used onsite.
  • Please stay on nature center paths with the kicksleds.
  • For your safety, do not kicksled on any frozen ponds, streams or wetlands.

Moore Lake Community Building Rental

The City of Fridley offers the Moore Lake Community Building as a year round indoor rental facility. This building was designed to provide a beautiful and festive space for meetings and gatherings.

Moore Lake Community Building

The Moore Lake Community Building is available for rental use daily. Full day (8 a.m.- 9 p.m.) and Half day (8 a.m.- 2 p.m. or 3 p.m.-9 p.m.) rental options. The facility is closed the following holidays: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day. Holiday availability may be subject to change.

The community building is located within Moore Lake Park at 5890 Central Avenue NE.

Amenities

  • Capacity: 72 people seated or 100 Open House style. View a visual of room set-up.
  • Building is NOT staffed.  See options to hire a Building Monitor in section below. 
  • Audio-Visual system including presentation screen.
  • Indoor restroom included with rental.
  • Kitchenette (small refrigerator, microwave, running water, electricity and counter space)
  • Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted.
  • Centerpieces/tabletop or freestanding decorations ONLY. No items may be adhered or affixed to the windows, doors, walls, columns or ceilings (push pins, tape, nails, putty, other fasteners/adhesives are NOT allowed).  Glitter, confetti, helium balloons and pinatas are NOT allowed.
  • All Set-Up and Clean Up must occur during the specified rental period.  Renters and caterers are only allowed access during the specified rental period.
  • Caterers must be licensed in Anoka County and provide their own linens, serving items and tableware items.
  • Small south patio included with rental. Rental does not include exclusive access to the open-air portion of the building. This area will remain open to the public at all times and is non-reservable.

Rental Fees

There is a $200 damage deposit added to every rental. An optional building monitor is available for an additional $25 per hour, with a two-hour minimum.

Monday-Thursday, Friday Morning

  • Half Day (8 a.m. - 2 p.m. or 3-9 p.m.)
    • Resident and Non-profit - $150 plus tax
    • Non-Resident- $225 plus tax
  • Full Day (8 a.m. - 9 p.m.)
    • Resident and Non-profit - $225 plus tax
    • Non-Resident - $337.50 plus tax

Friday Evening, Saturday-Sunday

  • Half Day (8 a.m. - 2 p.m. or 3-9 p.m.)
    • Resident and Non-profit - $250 plus tax
    • Non-Resident- $400 plus tax
  • Full Day (8 a.m. - 9 p.m.)
    • Resident and Non-profit - $375 plus tax
    • Non-Resident - $600 plus tax

Building Monitor

An optional building monitor is available for an additional $25 per hour for your rental of the Moore Lake Community Building. This staff member can assist in opening and closing the facility, setting up tables and chairs, greeting guests and operating the Audio-Visual system. The building monitor can be scheduled for a minimum of two hours of time and can be present for a portion of your rental if assistance is not required for the entire event.

  • More than 30 days prior to rental date, receive a 100 percent refund
  • 14-30 days prior to rental date, receive a 50 percent refund
  • Less than 14 days prior to rental date, receive no refund
  • No refunds are given due to weather conditions unless the park or facility is officially closed due to severe weather conditions.

The City of Fridley has open-air and indoor/outdoor shelters available for seasonal (May-October) rental throughout our park system. Additional spaces are available at Springbrook Nature Center.

Flanery Park Shelter

2025 Reservations will be available online January 2, 2025 at 8:00 a.m.
Flanery Park Shelter is available for full day rentals on Saturdays and Sundays between May and October.

The shelter is located at 1495 Onondaga Street in the northeast portion of the City.

Amenities

  • Capacity: 50 people (20 indoor and 30 outdoor)
  • Enclosed shelter with an attached open-air area (ideal for all weather conditions)
  • Indoor: Three round tables and 25 chairs
  • Outdoor: Three picnic tables
  • Indoor restroom facilities (with paid rental)
  • Heat and electricity
  • Two charcoal grills
  • No parking on site, street parking available on Onondaga Street or 75th Avenue NE
  • Playground, ball diamond, basketball court and tennis/pickleball courts are available onsite.

Locke Park Shelter #1 is available for full day rentals Monday - Sunday between May and October.

The shelter is located at 840 71st Avenue NE, behind the Fridley Civic Campus. Proceed past the public dog park, to the furthest interior parking lot to access.

Amenities

  • Capacity: 150 persons
  • Open-air picnic shelter with 20 picnic tables and a serving station that includes electricity
  • Nearby indoor restroom (with paid rental)
  • Four charcoal grills
  • Nearby playground, open grassy areas, walking trails and a fenced dog park

Locke Park Shelter #2 is available for full day rentals Monday - Sunday between May and October.

This shelter is located at 840 71st Avenue NE, behind the Fridley Civic Campus. Proceed to the nearest parking lot, adjacent to park entrance to access.

Amenities

  • Capacity: 50 people
  • Open air shelter with six picnic tables
  • One charcoal grill
  • Portable restroom located by the nearby dog park
  • Park amenities include a playground, open grassy areas, walking trails and fenced dog park
  • Additional overflow parking can be located near the public dog park and Locke Park Shelter #1. On street parking is strictly prohibited.

Currently reserving shelter #5 only. Other on-site shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Moore Lake Shelter #5

2025 Reservations will be available online January 2, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. 
Moore Lake Shelter #5 is available for full day rentals Monday - Sunday between May and October.

This covered shelter is located within Moore Lake Park (5890 Central Ave Ne) near the north parking lot, closest to the walking path with views of the water.

Amenities

  • Capacity: 50 people
  • Open air shelter with three picnic tables
  • One charcoal grill
  • Indoor restrooms are accessible at the outdoor plaza of the Moore Lake Community Building.
  • Park amenities available to the public include a playground, sand volleyball court, pickleball courts, and basketball court. There is a fishing pier and beachfront access for canoes/kayaks.
  • Parking is available in the north and south lots.

How Do I Rent the Shelter?

Reservation requests will open online March 13, 2024 at 8 a.m., with occupancy starting April 8, 2024. Shelter rental requests can be made online. If assistance is needed, call Recreation at 763-572-3570.
