Our Fire Explorers took 1st place in this year's Governor Fire Prevention Day competition at the MN State Fair.
The competition was held on Friday, August 26, 2016. This event is part of a public education day focusing on fire safety. Fire Explorer posts from around the state take part in 6 different judged events: ladder raise, room search, spinal immobilization, a cardiac arrest scenario, public presentation/education, and a written exam. The events are aimed at testing the Explorer in firefighting skills and presentation based on the MN Firefighter 1 state certification.
The competition gives the public a chance to watch the events throughout the day and interact with the explorers as well. This year, 16 different explorer posts participated, and Fridley Fire Explorers took 1st place!
The explorers take a lot of pride in this competition and train hard. Congratulations on a great job!
