Congratulations to 4th grader Sawyer Lee-Tally, our 2015 Fire Safety Poster Winner! Her poster will go on to compete at the Minnesota State Fire Chief's competition, and she celebrated with an afternoon with Fridley firefighters.
Each fall, the Fridley Fire Department hosts a fire safety poster contest for elementary students with the help of local schools. The theme for this year's contest was: Hear the Beep Where You Sleep. Have a working smoke alarm in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every floor of the home.
Our 2015 winner was a 4th grade student at Hayes Elementary who submitted this colorful poster. Fridley firefighters picked her and two friends up from school and gave them a fire truck ride to DQ for a behind-the-scenes tour, and the chance to make their very own curly-topped ice cream cone. Our firefighters had a blast and thank you for helping to get out the message on fire safety. Sawyer's poster will now move on to compete at the state level.
