Each month, the Rec team invites you to get outside and play in our parks with a curated, FREE, family-friendly event.
Skating, Sledding and S'mores | Friday, December 29, 2023 | 1-3 p.m. | Commons Park Warming House
Join us for an afternoon of fun at Commons Park Warming House as we celebrate the start of winter skating season! Use free skates on the ice rink, sled down the giant hill, and make a s’more over the fire. The warming house will be open for you to warm up, make a fun winter craft, and there will be music playing to keep the party festive (dancing is optional)!

Fridley Winter Lights Contest
Returning Event | November 2023
Help spread holiday cheer by decorating the exterior of your home! Entries will be judged on overall impact, visual appeal, uniqueness, variety and tidiness. Category winners and “Bright Spots” will be indicated on the map. All entries will be placed on a map so that residents (and visitors﴿ can create their own custom lights tour around town. Judging will take place December 11 ‐ 12. Winners will be announced, and maps will be available online or in person at City Hall on December 15.

Winter Gear Drive
December 1, 2023 to January 13, 2024
Let's keep each other warm! We are accepting donations of gently used/new winter outerwear. Please make sure your items are clean and ready for their new home! Donated gear will be available free of charge during Winterfest on January 20, 2024.
Donations can be dropped off at City Hall, Springbrook Nature Center or North Suburban Center for the Arts during business hours from December 1, 2023 to January 13, 2024.

Add some winter wonder magic to our community wonderland photo backdrop! Head to North Suburban Center for the Arts from November 17, 2023 through January 13, 2024 to add your artistic flair to our community artwork. Then stop by Winterfest on January 20, 2024 at Springbrook Nature Center for a photo opportunity and to view the final creation!
Intro To Ice Fishing
Monday, January 15, 2024 | 1-2 p.m., 2-3 p.m. | Moore Lake Park
Join us on the ice for some fishing fun as we get ready for Winterfest! Instructor and Fishing for All owner, Evan Griggs, will teach basic ice safety and ice fishing skills for the whole family. All equipment is provided. Dress for the weather. Registration required for this one‐hour session. Ages 8+ and Parent/guardian must be present. No fishing license required. Scholarships are available, call 763‐572‐3570.

Environmental Fun Fair

A variety of outdoor and environmental exhibitors will be present to help us appreciate our wonderful natural world. This FREE event will also include an interactive nature hike, food trucks and activities for the whole family.
Wet N Wild
Returning Event | July 2024
Get ready for an afternoon of water fun at Commons Park! There will be a giant slip ‘n slide, lots of sprinklers, water toys, water balloons and more. Back by popular demand, the Fridley Fire Department will bring out an engine and hose to really get you soaked! Wear a swimsuit and sunscreen and bring a towel. Adult supervision is required for all participants. Pre-paid registration is required for all participants.
Nickel Jamboree

Come one, Come all for carnival games, puppet shows, face painting, hayrides, popcorn and beverages! This is a family-friendly event.
Activities will range from 10 ‐ 50 cents, so bring your change for an afternoon of fun! ($5 punch passes can be purchased at the event﴿. No need to sign up in advance.

Touch A Truck

Don't miss this unique opportunity where vehicles of all types will be on hand for children to climb, sit in the driver's seat, touch, view up close, pose for photos, and learn about how various trucks work. Kids of all ages can experience what big trucks are really like.
