2024 Street Rehabilitation Project

Project Overview

The 2024 Street Rehabilitation Project includes pavement and utility improvements across approximately 1.2 miles of streets in four distinct project areas throughout the City. Street rehabilitation methods will include full-depth reclamation and spot replacement of concrete curb & gutter. Proposed utility improvements in select locations will include replacement of water main, hydrants, and other system appurtenances. A map of project streets has been included below.

Staff are currently in the preliminary design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in May 2024.

Project Updates

Channel Road Traffic Calming Meeting
A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024 to discuss potential traffic calming options that may be implemented along Channel Road in conjunction with the project:

When: Tuesday, February 06, 2024; 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Where: Fridley Civic Campus, Fireside Room (7071 University Avenue NE, Fridley, MN)

The meeting will be an open forum where project residents and property owners are invited to review potential traffic calming options and provide feedback to City staff. Those unable to attend the meeting are encouraged to review the Channel Road Traffic Calming Options presented at the meeting and provide feedback via the online feedback survey or by using the email address  web-StreetProjects@fridleymn.gov and subject “2024 Street Rehabilitation – Channel Road Traffic Calming”.

Public Hearing on Improvements
A public Hearing on Improvements was held at the December 18th, 2023 City Council meeting where staff presented on the project scope, construction impacts, anticipated schedule and special assessments. The presentation to City Council can be viewed here. Following the presentation and public comment, the City Council approved the development of final plans & specifications and future advertisement for bids.

Virtual Neighborhood Information Presentation 
A virtual neighborhood information presentation was published to the project webpage in September 2023 with information on the project location, proposed improvements, construction overview, and tentative project schedule. Residents located within and adjacent to the project area were invited to view and provide public comment. The virtual neighborhood information presentation can be viewed here.
