Activities and Programs

Preschool Activities

Evening Sports - Ages 3-5

Participants must be ages 3-5 by the start of the program

Youth instructors will focus on teaching children age-appropriate fundamentals while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive social interaction. All equipment is provided.

Family Open Gym

Bring the family and get the wiggles out with a variety of activities. This is a perfect time for parents/caregivers and children to have fun and play as the weather turns cold outside. Enjoy child led play with a wide variety of recreational equipment including, balls, hoops, scooters, jump ropes, music and more!

No pre-registration required. (Requires at least one adult over the age of 18 and one child under the age of 18 to participate).

FEE
Drop‐in fee: $3 per child or $6 per family
5 visit Punch Card: $10 per child or $20 per family
(Family is defined as 1-2 adults and 2+ children)

Saturdays: November 8, 2025 - March 28, 2026  10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

Elementary School Activities

After-School Activities - Gr. K-4

The following classes are offered after school at Hayes Elementary School from 3:45 ‐ 5:15 p.m. to youth in grades K‐4 (unless noted otherwise﴿. Snacks are provided before class. Recreation leaders will meet participants in the cafeteria at dismissal time. Stevenson students will meet our Recreation leader at the bus loading area and will be transported to Hayes. For students not attending Hayes or Stevenson, drop‐off is at 4 p.m. at the Hayes cafeteria. Parent/caregiver pick‐up is in the Hayes cafeteria at 5:15 p.m.

Note: If your child needs to be transported from Stevenson Elementary to Hayes Elementary, please select the transportation option when registering. Transportation is NOT provided after class - all participants must be picked up at Hayes.

Art Classes - Ages 12+

Folk Art Blackbird
Learn to craft a vibrant folk-art style red-winged blackbird, using felt fabric and hand embroidery. You'll learn several decorative stitches and a plied cord technique to create your own design. Class is taught by artist Becka Rahn.

 Folded Paper Window Stars
Learn to make folded paper stars from translucent paper. These stars look complicated but use lots of simple layered repeating shapes to create complex designs. Your completed stars can be hung in a window for a colorful display. This class is perfect to make your own holiday decorations.  Class is taught by artist Becka Rahn. 

Enrichment Classes - Ages 15+

Immersive Soundbath 

Experience a one-hour sound meditation that uses crystal singing bowls and other instruments designed to create a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. It is the perfect way to recenter and recharge before the busy holiday season! This immersive experience will calm your mind and soothe your soul, allowing you to enter a deep state of relaxation.  Most participants choose a lying position on the floor for the duration of the class.  Please bring a yoga mat or blanket along with any other items such as pillows and additional blankets for your comfort.

A variety of special events are held each year throughout the city, including the Civic Campus and Springbrook Nature Center.

Pickleball

Classes meet weekly for four sessions. Classes accommodate skill levels from Beginner to Advanced.

Classes

Players who are new to the game of Pickleball and looking to develop their skills.

Intermediate Class
Skills & Drills - Know how to play the game. Looking to improve.

Advanced Class
Live Play & Coaching - Coach watches game, offers performance tips.

Clinics

Clinics meet for a 1-2 day weekend session. Clinics are intended to introduce brand new players to the game. Beginner skill level.


Zumba and Aqua Zumba

Zumba
Enjoy the party as we shake to the rhythms of Latin-infused music/dance!

Aqua Zumba
Integrating the ZUMBA philosophy with traditional aquatic fitness, every class is a party! 

Adult Leagues

Basketball

Leagues are offered at both a competitive and recreational skill level. Individual and team registrations available. Team Roster Min/Max: 5/12


Bean Bag Toss

Teams are made up of two players. League consists of double header games. Both individual and team registrations available.


Indoor Volleyball

Indoor leagues are offered at both a competitive and recreational skill level. Individual and team registrations available. Team Roster Min/Max: 6/12.


Sand Volleyball

Outdoor sand leagues are offered at both a competitive and recreational skill level. Individual and team registrations available. Team Roster Min/Max: 6/12 


 

55+ Golf 

Teams are made up of 2 individuals. Players will be paired up, unless you indicate a specific partner at time of registration.


Pickleball (Ages 20-40)

Self officiated. Individuals will register and be placed in doubles games with players of similar skill level

Fridley Youth Sports Assoc.

Fridley Youth Sports Association (FYSA)

Fridley Youth Sports Association (FYSA) promotes youth sports in Fridley, providing opportunities for all youth to participate in competitive and recreational team sports. FYSA is a non-profit organization relying solely on parent volunteers. Current sports offered through FYSA include Baseball, Basketball, Football, Softball and Soccer.

Spring Lake Park Lacrosse Association (SLPYLA)

Minneapolis Titans Youth Hockey

The Minneapolis Titans Youth Hockey program is dedicated to developing young hockey players in and around the Twin Cities. Kids from Minneapolis, North St. Paul, Columbia Heights, Fridley, and Brooklyn Center, Minnesota are welcome to join! Registration, season information, learn to skate program, and more can be found on their website.
