Scam Alert: City of Fridley Caller ID

Fridley Police badge and patch

If you receive a call demanding immediate payment from someone claiming to be the City of Fridley, hang up. This is a scam using technology to fake caller ID. If a utility bill is overdue, you would be contacted by US Mail from the city, not by phone.

We are getting reports that some residents are receiving phone calls with the caller ID displaying as City of Fridley and the caller is claiming you are overdue on some kind of payment to the city. The caller insists on immediate payment or requests gift cards/money cards to be mailed to them.

This is a SCAM. Hang up or tell the caller you are not able to make an immediate payment and hang up.

If you are concerned that you may be behind on a utility bill or other payment to the city, give us a call directly at (763) 571-3450 and we can confirm the status of your account.

The City of Fridley does not make phone calls requesting immediate payment. If you are delinquent on a utility bill, you would receive a letter via US Mail on City of Fridley letterhead.
